The Senior
Instructor at Warrior and Scholar Kenpo Karate is Alicia Martorelli
- chief instructor, curriculum coordinator and studio manager. Currently
a 2nd Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate, she has been training
in the martial arts since 1983
when she began training in the traditional martial art of GoJu-Ryu, a
Japanese Style Karate. Ms. Martorelli studied this discipline,
along with U.S.A. and Okinawan GoJu for 10 years to earn the rank of 2nd
Degree Black Belt. In 1994, she started her training in American Kenpo
Karate with her instructor, Keith Wadsworth. She assisted him at Nova
Southeastern University's recreational center in their Kenpo Karate
program from 1995 to 1998. Since 1999 Ms. Martorelli has been
teaching at Warrior and Scholar Kenpo Karate.
She also trains with some of the leading Kenpo practitioners of our day,
including Mr. Richard “Huk” Planas (10th Degree), Mr. Lee Wedlake (8th
Degree) and Mr. Sean Kelly (6th Degree). By regularly attending
seminars, camps and private classes she continues to strive to improve
her own ability in order to be a better instructor to her students.
Along with her duties at Warrior and Scholar, she also teaches at the
Adventure Bay Early Learning Centers in Broward County since 2002.
Ms. Martorelli teaches age specific self defense and safety skills
to children in group and private lessons, stressing self-discipline,
respect and good behavior in a safe and fun environment.
